Geography: Nepal is a mountainous and landlocked country lying on the southern slopes of the Himalayas between India and China. Its area is 147,181 It is 885 km east to west and 145 to 241 km north to south. The country is divided into three geographical regions.

People: Nepal has a composite population stemming from various racial and ethnic communities. The population is at 26.62 million comprising of about 101 ethnic groups speaking over 92 languages.

Religion: Hinduism and Buddhism constitute two major religions in Nepal. a remarkable feature of Nepal is the religious homogeneity that exists, particularly between the Hindu and Buddhist communities. Apart from the Hindus and Buddhists, Muslim forms the third largest religious group and Christianity a minority.

The exquisite medieval art and architecture of the Kathmandu valley vividly reflect the artistic ingenuity and the religious tradition of the people. Climate - Expect heavy monsoon rains in June through September, with cool to cold weather from October to March. April to June proves to be the most seasonable time for travel. As with most of the trekking areas in Nepal, the best time to visit are during spring and autumn. Spring is the time for rhododendrons while the clearest skies are found after the monsoon in October and November. However, Nepal can be visited the whole year round.

Language- Nepali is the official language of the state, spoken and understood by the majority of the population. Multiple ethnic groups have their own mother tongues. However, English is spoken by many in Government and business offices. It is the mode of education in most schools of Kathmandu and some other cities.

Currency - Nepalese Rupee, though the United States Dollar and European Euro are frequently accented in larger cities.
